We have been living close to this area but didn’t get the chance to explore it. Other day Aayan insisted on going on a train slide and sand play, we didn’t want to go too far. I was looking for a place nearby and that’s how we got to know about this lovely and quite an accessible place. That’s how we explored “Tiong Bahru Park” and the lovely train.
Most striking feature of this playground is the Tilting Train or Choo Choo Train. Aayan said, ” This train is like Thomas the diesel engine.”
It is a sand-based playground and entire play area is on sand only.
A public park and a playground in the centre of the city. We found this place very good for a small picnic or get together as parents can sit on the nearby benches or grass and kids can enjoy. The train has multiple entry points to make it more fascinating for kids , slides, stairs.
This beautiful wooden train has got an engine with three carriages. Kids can actually climb abroad and move around in the carriages.
There is one old style bell in the train to give the traditional touch to it. Kids usually make it a starting point of their play to touch the bell and win.
With kids below 4 years, you need to accompany them as inside the train are some open space though covered with rope.
Kids love to sit inside the train and play hide and seek. All of them were pretending sitting inside the moving train.
A lot of activities which kids loves to explore here.
Other parts of the playground include the slides, bouncing cars & horse, & the swings.
Kids can simply enjoy the sand play .
Merry-go -round
This is at one side of the ground for kids to enjoy merry-go-round ride , more kids more fun and the best part is their screams and laughter at the same time.
Maze Around
Just next to the train is this small maze for kids to enjoy and keep them busy forming their own train inside it as well.
The park has got a beautiful bridge over the pond with small turtles and trust me kids can spend hours on this bridge or next to this pond.
Love this corner space to sit and relax with the trees and cool breeze surrounding you.
Other facilities
Drinking fountain, Pond pavilion, Foot reflexology footpath, Fitness corner/ stations & fitness equipment/ exercise station.
Accessibility
This park is very much accessible by MRT(EW17-Tiong Bahru MRT), Bus and car.
Walking -Take the exit from MRT and on your right walk for 5 minutes and there is one crossing and you will see the park.
There is a public car park at the corner of park( near the junction of Lower delta road and Tiong bahru road). ENter the car park from Tiong Bahru road going towards Tiong bahru plaza.
Admission : Free
We have visited Tiong Bahru park again a couple of months back

This looks like an old school playground…. I miss playgrounds like this!
Steph.
WOW pooja so nicely explained.
Must visit the place one day.
i love Thomas the train.. this place would really unleash the child in me .
A beautiful place for kids! And it's sand, so they don't get hurt easily! Even when they become crazily reckless (which they usually do), they are safe with the sand! Hmm, interesting place!
It's good to know your place still has this kind of playgrounds or park for kids to enjoy rather than spending their time using gadgets.
I never knew about this little park with so many interesting facilities! Thanks for sharing! It will be nice to bring children there and enjoy the facilities, and what's more it's free!
Love the constructed train as part of the playground for children. In the future, more of it will be constructed with different forms.
I love that Singapore has public parks like this where kids can enjoy the outdoors in a safe environment. That maze is pretty cool!
It's like a giant sandbox! Kids will really love this for sure. Mine would go ga-ga over the train!
That’s a very cool looking playground. The train looked like a piece of art instead of a playground display. You must have had so much fun.
I used to stay down the road from this park, near River Valley. The train has always been a trademark, and my older child had spent many a happy hour roaming there. Thanks for bringing back those lovely memories for me!
I love parks and playgrounds that are not your usual playgrounds. This one seems well-thought out and looks maintained too. I really like the train, makes me want to try if I'd still fit in there. Lol.
We usually have our Annual General Meeting at Holiday Inn Atrium which is near Tiong Bahru park. On my free time, I run around the Tiong Bahru Area. Hoping to see their new playground the next time.
Oh I like the train like swings. I am glad that you had a great time in this park with your kids.
I love the playground facilities and the creativity. The structure is children friendly. Go to know that there is such park for the family around your housing area.
I can't help it but smile because you've mentioned "Thomas the diesel engine". My grandchild loves playing with his Thomas train. You son did have a great time riding that Thomas train. Wish there is one here in our place.
What an adorable concept for a kid's park! Wish we had this in Manila! 😀
This is one really amazingly nice park for the kids.. Once step in, it's hard to get the kids out of there!~
What a great place for kids. I am actually loving this playground and I know my toddler would love it even more.
What a beautiful park! I bet the kids would have hours and hours of fun. That train structure is pretty amazing too.
What a beautiful park to hang out in. The kids look very happy there. 🙂
[…] We have been to this playground many a times and Aayan used to call it as “Thomas the diesel engine”. You can read here more about it – Train Playground […]
