Silks Place Yilan is an ideal hotel for families, and the moment we arrived, I knew I wanted to bring my family here for a stay! It is situated on levels 6 to 11 of one of the largest shopping centers in Eastern Taiwan, Luna Plaza.
Silks Place Yilan Location
It’s just a 10-minute walk from Yilan Railway Station and a 15-minute walk from Dongmen Night Market. Taipei is accessible within a 60-minute car ride, and it takes about 2 hours to drive from Taoyuan International Airport.
Silks Place Rooms & Suites
The hotel features approximately 193 guest rooms, which include 15 different types of suites and layouts. The themed guest rooms on the 8th and 9th floors are especially suited for families, as they come equipped with a tent and a children’s electric car.
Superior Room
I stayed in one of their superior rooms, which featured a king-sized bed and a balcony with a stunning view of the city. The bathroom was spacious and included an open-concept bathtub. Additionally, the room had a balcony that overlooked the hotel’s beautiful surroundings.
I was pleasantly surprised to find L’Occitane toiletries, along with a kit to carry them. Another advantage is the Dyson hair dryer. Each room is equipped with a well-stocked minibar and safe.

Dinner at Red Lantern
Red Lantern Restaurant is renowned for its exquisite duck dishes, prepared exclusively by Executive Chef Jeffrey Lin. It is a favorite among both locals and international guests. The restaurant offers a variety of traditional Chinese cuisine, dim sum, local delicacies, and specialty snacks.
True to its name, Red Lantern features a prominent red color, which holds significant meaning in Chinese culture, symbolizing good fortune and prosperity. The restaurant’s design incorporates various red motifs, emphasizing this cultural significance.
Shopping
Since the hotel is situated in the Luna Plaza shopping center, we all decided to do some local shopping and ended up buying items at Carrefour. It’s quite convenient since the store is connected to the hotel, making it easy for late-night shopping. I picked up some local snacks for my kids back home.
The Lounge
After our exclusive dinner at Red Lantern, we decided to have lunch at The Lounge. This venue offers a diverse selection of light meals, beverages, afternoon tea, set menus, and delicious snacks. It is open until midnight, providing a relaxed and elegant dining experience.
Breakfast at Mix Gourmet
You can enjoy a fusion and international buffet breakfast at Mix Gourmet. I usually keep my breakfast simple with eggs and fruits, but there was a wide variety of food available.
We had an amazing time at Silks Place Yilan and will definitely return with my family. If you are traveling to Taiwan, especially Yilan, be sure to check out this hotel—you will love it!
