I recently went on a solo trip to Taiwan. I stayed at the Regent Taipei, formerly known as Grand Formosa Regent Taipei (under Silks Hotel Group), a luxurious 5-star hotel nestled in the vibrant Zhongshan district.
Regent Taipei Location
The hotel is well-connected and just a 50-minute journey from Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport to Regent Taipei. It is also conveniently located within walking distance from Zhongshan Taipei Metro (MRT) station. For guests, the hotel’s professional Concierge can be arranged.
Regent Taipei Rooms & Suites
The hotel has 538 deluxe guestrooms, including 60 suites which are the most spacious in Taipei. It was so interesting to know the fact that “Tai Pan” is defined as a businessperson of enormous power and influence, or a foreigner who is a chief executive of a company operating in China.
This was surprising to see the vintage-style room keys, especially in today’s world where we typically use room cards.
Tai Pai Room
I stayed in one of their Tai Pan King rooms, which offered plenty of space for both relaxation and work. Personally, I slept extremely well on their Wellspring Bed, which features oversized pillows, crisp cotton linens, and a pressure-relieving mattress.
The spacious marble bathrooms feature a deep-soaking tub and separate shower stalls, along with essential amenities like bath salts for relaxation. Don’t miss the adorable little duck on the bathtub tray while you enjoy a drink and a soothing soak in the tub.
Tai Pan Lounge
Staying in the Tai Pan Room includes exclusive access to the Tai Pan Lounge on Level 19, where guests are welcomed at any time, regardless of their arrival hour. They can enjoy premium services such as a buffet breakfast, all-day coffee and tea, snack service, evening cocktails, and happy hour specials. The view from the Tai Pan Lounge in the morning is truly breathtaking.
The standout feature of Tai Pan is their 24-hour personalized butler service. Guests can also exclusively use the boardroom, making it an excellent option for both personal and business travel.
Dinner at Robin’s Teppanyaki
We had a wonderful experience dining privately at Robin’s Teppanyaki, a restaurant recommended by the Michelin Guide and known as one of the best teppanyaki spots in town. The intimate and cozy atmosphere made our meal even more enjoyable as we savored the freshest seasonal ingredients, including meat and produce, all prepared with exceptional skill.
I highly recommend opting for private dining, especially when you’re in a group, whether with family or friends. We enjoyed a six-course dinner paired with sparkling oolong tea. Each dish was uniquely presented and absolutely delicious.
Each dish featured its own beautiful taste and was incredibly fresh, as we saw from the ingredients the staff showed us before they began cooking. I particularly enjoyed the taste and texture of the red quinoa butter, which was served alongside the French Onion Soup au Gratin. It was a perfect blend of crunch and unique flavors to savor.
Wellspring Spa
Located on the 20th floor, this urban paradise offers a full range of resort-class spa treatments originally designed by a former designer from the Four Seasons Bali Spa. It incorporates wellness traditions from Taiwan and around the world, providing a complete journey for the total transformation of mind, body, and soul.
Wellspring Spa has been recognised with notable awards such as the “Haute Grandeur Global Awards”; Best Luxury Spa in Taiwan and the “World Spa Awards” for the best hotel spa in Taiwan for seven consecutive years.
Rooftop Pool Area
Take pleasure in the heated rooftop pool situated on Level 21, where you can enjoy stunning views of Taipei 101 and the city skyline. If you’re staying at the hotel, be sure to take a dip—who doesn’t love a heated pool?
Health Club & Sauna
This is one of the best gyms I have seen in any hotel. I couldn’t take any photos because it was not allowed. The gym offers a variety of activities, including aerobics, yoga, and spinning. You can also enjoy a range of massages, from acupressure to reflexology. Additionally, there is a Jacuzzi and sauna available for relaxation.
Regent Galleria
Regent Galleria is the largest shopping center in Taiwan, featuring a variety of luxury brand shops within a five-star hotel. It boasts some of the world’s most prestigious haute couture boutiques, including Chanel, Cartier, Christian Dior, Bulgari, Louis Vuitton, Harry Winston, and Hermès.
The Brasserie
The hotel offers a variety of dining options, including Azie, Mihan Honke, Robin’s Grill, Robin’s Teppanyaki, and Silks House. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet at The Brasserie, which is large and spacious. I personally love this breakfast buffet, as it features a wide range of cuisines, ensuring that you are truly spoiled for choice.
Silks Palace
We went to Silks Palace for lunch, which is located inside the National Palace Museum, one of Taiwan’s most renowned museums, celebrated for its extensive collection of Chinese imperial artifacts. At the restaurant, we had the opportunity to enjoy dishes inspired by the museum’s artifacts and collections. It is recommended to visit the museum first to fully appreciate and relate to the beautiful culinary art presented in these inspired dishes.
If you have the time, I highly recommend attending the Lady Bun workshop. It was a wonderful experience to create our own versions of Lady Bun together with friends. Seeing our artwork after it was steamed and served at the table was so much fun!
If you’re planning a trip to Taiwan and want a luxurious and memorable experience, consider staying at Regent Taipei. The hotel is within walking distance of Ningxia Night Market, where you can enjoy a variety of local foods.
