Meet The Body Shop’s Edelweiss range – 46% more powerful antioxidant than retinol

The Body Shop has taken the bold move to change the name of its best-selling skincare range, Drops of Youth™, to Edelweiss.Edelweiss
Drops of Youth™ concentrate is one of The Body Shop’s best-selling products, a bottle is sold every 20 seconds around the world. So why change it?

It’s about going back to the brand’s activist roots. From the outset, The Body Shop Founder, Anita Roddick was a change maker and ripped up the norms and codes of the beauty industry. She campaigned tirelessly on human rights and environmental issues as well as self-esteem.Edelweiss

She took a firm stance on antiageing and said: In 2021, The Body Shop launched a self-love campaign to inspire inner confidence and commissioned a Global Self Love Index. The findings couldn’t be clearer: the majority of people globally think the beauty industry can have a negative impact on self-confidence. This mostly stems from the use of airbrushed or altered images and unrealistic claims.

The Index served as a final catalyst for the brand to review and reflect on its own practices and make the firm decision to clean up its own house, where it felt it was falling short of its founding values. The global anti-ageing market is worth $140 billion, so this isn’t a decision that could be taken lightly.Edelweiss

The new and improved range has been reformulated to deliver double the concentration of Edelweiss. Edelweiss stem cells and Edelweiss extract which contain hard-working antioxidants are combined with natural origin peptides, known to boost the skin’s defence mechanism and barrier function. While most peptides on the
market are synthetic, The Body Shop sources from rice, a natural-origin alternative.

The Edelweiss line-up still includes the legendary Concentrate and favourites from the Drops of Youth™ range but has been extended to include two more products – Edelweiss Cleansing Concentrate and Edelweiss Intense Smoothing Cream – so all your daily skin needs are covered.
