Is Social Media Influencer a Real Job?
From writing my blog, managing my Facebook page to creating meaningful content every single day on Instagram takes a lot of hard work & consistency and still, people say that what do you is not a REAL JOB & just a HOBBY!
Let me share a part of what an Influencer does on an everyday basis:
1️⃣Project Management
Working with every single brand on a campaign needs prioritizing/de-prioritizing tasks, planning & scheduling the content accordingly. Allocating timelines for every collaboration & updating the status on a weekly basis. My calendar is full of to-do lists from creating stories for a media drop to posting the content.
2️⃣Account Management
I have worked in the client servicing industry so I know that building & maintaining a relationship is the key. I am the primary contact for all the PR agencies, Brands & other representatives who contact me on an everyday basis through emails, DM or even WhatsApp messages whether you are going ahead with the collaboration or not but you have to invest time on each email.
3️⃣Marketing Skills
I don’t have a manager or any agency that manages my emails or brand collaborations. I am the one who is managing every single detail & negotiating with every brand opportunity. Always remember Negotiating is one of the most important skills!! I am quite happy that I have got an opportunity to work with the best brands in the industry.
4️⃣Consultancy
I just don’t go by what brands provide in a campaign brief but I come up with the ideas, suggestions which work well for both brand as well as for myself.
5️⃣Financial Management
Keeping a track of whatever I receive which people perceive as FREE but it goes into my expenses & income along with paying for my self-hosted blog, domain, running promotions, & other related expenses to run my work.
6️⃣Community Management
Here comes another part that I love and is essential besides creating content is to connect and engage with my community, replying to their questions, and If I can add any value.
Is there anything that I have missed that says content creator is not a JOB?
