To Celebrate, Remember and Fight Back, RFL has three key moments during the event:

Survivors Lap – All cancer survivors at the event take the first lap around the track, celebrating their victory over cancer while cheered on by the other participants who line the track. There are also the caregiver lap where we recognise and celebrate caregivers, who takes care of their family and friends during the cancer journey, and the community lap where we thank them for giving love and support to cancer patients around them.

Luminaria Ceremony – This takes place after dark where the stadium will be illuminated with LED balloons to remember people who have fought and lost the cancer journey and also to support those whose fight continues. The balloons are placed around the relay track as glowing tributes to those who have been affected by cancer.

Fight Back Ceremony – The emotionally powerful ceremony inspires relay participants to take action. It symbolises the emotional commitment each of us can make in the fight against cancer – how we can take action and spread awareness of cancer research, treatment and prevention.

With the goal of uniting people who have experienced cancer – be it as a patient, survivor, caregiver, family or friend, this first RFL aims to raise $800,000 to fund the various SCS programmes and services. The event targets a crowd of 9,000 participants over three time slots. There will also be other family activities and performances throughout the overnight event.
