Today, Youtube has launched Youtube Kids in Singapore at Google Asia Pacific’s new office at Mapletree Business City. Youtube Kids– a brand new app built with parents and children in mind that make it easier for kids to find videos on topics they want to explore.
When Google, Youtube and kids are involved then we can surely look forward to a fun filled launch not just for parents but for the tiny tots as well. Youtube kids has been successfully launched in 20 countries, receiving tens of millions of downloads by families who rate it among the top five kids apps available.
Can you say “NO” to such a table setup especially for kids? Similar to this Youtube Kids has been built from the ground up with little ones in mind, the Kids app makes it easy for children to find things of their choice on top.
Is this anything less than an art & craft session and some good motivation on the table for the little ones… The app’s kid-friendly design makes it even easier to find Oddbods and there is also built-in voice search so that even if your child can’t spell or type they can still find the video of their choice.
Specially designed glass jars with candies and a colourful table for the entire family. You can browse channels and playlists in four categories: Shows, Music, Learning and Explore. Search for videos of particular interest to your family, like why penguins waddle on National Geographic Kid or watch favourites from Thomas and Friends, Pororo, and ChuChuTV.
Don Anderson, Head of Kids and Learning Partnerships, YouTube Asia Pacific, said, “Keeping families safe online is a shared responsibility. As a parent, I want to know that I have the tools to help manage my family’s experience.ouTube Kids gives parents more control to provide a safer and more customized experience for their families to explore their endless curiosities, learn about new topics and be entertained.”
You can also discover brand new channels from Singapore, such as Infinite Studios’ new kids channel Infinite Kids.
Some of the Key features:
- Bright and playful design
- Family-focused content
- Parental controls
Parental controls
We know how important it is for parents to have a peace of mind while their children explore the world through videos online. Hence, we’ve built options into the app that help you control the experience for your kids and put parents in the driving seat.
-
Learn how the app works: When parents open YouTube Kids, they learn upfront how our systems choose and recommend content and how to flag videos. We always try to make the videos available in the app family-friendly, but no system is perfect. So if you ever find a video you’re concerned about, please flag it. This helps make YouTube Kids better for everyone.
-
Search settings: We’ll also prompt you to make a choice about how broadly you want your child to explore – turn search on to access millions of family-friendly videos, or turn search off to restrict your child’s experience to a more limited set. Either way, parents decide the right experience for their family from the get-go.
-
Timer: Let the app be the bad guy with a built-in timer that lets you limit kids’ screen time. The app alerts your child when the session is over, so you don’t have to. You’re welcome.
-
Sound settings: Sometimes you need a little peace and quiet! You have an option to turn off background music and sound effects, so your kids can keep watching while parents catch a breath.
-
Passcode and restricting certain content: Parents have the ability to set their own passcode, and to access settings and other parental information in the app. Parents who are logged in will also now be able to customize their child’s experience by restricting certain videos and channels from their child’s viewing.
-
YouTube Kids on the big screen: You can now also watch YouTube Kids as a family on your big screen using Chromecast, Apple TV, game consoles or a smart TV.
You can download for free on Google Play and the App Store
A tour of Google’s newly opened office!
Cafeteria is such a bliss and I don’t feel like coming out of it. Kaira enjoyed the lights on her way to the Cafeteria.
OddBods fun time!
All the parents out there, you will love this app just like us moms.
It’s nice that kids have their own youtube. This ensures that they get more apt content to their age.
The event is so cute, with all those candies, mascots and decors. But it’s also good that it’s informative and educational for the parents. It’s nice that they are doing this kind of infotainment event that is suitable for adults and their kids.
My baby is almost one year old and a few more years and we will definitely need Youtube Kids! Thank God this is already launched! Parents will definitely need this for their kids.
Youtube kids seems to be the need of the hour. When there are so many videos to violent & sexual content, its become so unsafe!!! A safe browsing at the impressionable age is so necessary.
This is quite the connection between two giants and the kids had a ton of fun. I hope it translates into more tech and coding opportunities for kids in their educational experiences.
I have downloaded the app and absolutely loving the time limit function!
This is such a welcomed app. YouTube has so much resources for education and with YouTube kids, it just makes access to YouTube so much more kid and family friendly. Thanks for sharing.
Even though my boy still doesn’t hv access to gadgets, I’m sure this is an app I’ll be downloading in time to come..hopefully not so soon..hee ? Many thks for sharing!!
