“This is the way I brush my teeth, brush my teeth, brush my teeth early in the morning!” I am sure every mum would have sung this with their little one and I am singing this from last 8 years. I have introduced the brushing when my little one was 6-7 months as I read that we should start brushing as early as 6 months.
Well! Do you know that more than half of all children in Singapore have one or more rotten teeth by the time they start primary school? This is a worrying trend because bacteria from their milk teeth can affect the development of their permanent teeth – The Strait times.
Singhealth reported that in the year 2003 national study of our school children show only 52% of children caries-free at age 6 years and also the prolonged usage of milk bottles – a high risk of early childhood caries.

What is Playbrush?
Playbrush is a unique smart device that connects easily to any manual toothbrush, transforming it into a gaming controller. Download “Utoothia” on your smartphone from an app store.
You need to set up the brush properly on the device as shown. Shake the brush to see the yellow light blinking at the bottom of the device. I tried my best to capture that yellow light but couldn’t do.
Switch on your Bluetooth to connect your device to the smartphone, you might see an error if it is not connected.
Setup your account!
Bad tooth brushing not only leads to annoying arguments and discussions with your children, but also to frightening and painful dentist appointments and increased treatment costs. Playbrush has been developed closely with parents as we see ourselves as little helpers in their daily routine. This is my first time come across such toothbrush with apps. I think its a good idea to encourage and remind the kids to brush their teeth.
