Time is flying really fast and with a blink of an eye, we have completed 1st half of this year. I feel lucky to have kids around to keep me busy and active (tiring though). I am writing this a bit late as we were enjoying our school vacations at grandparents home. Before the school holidays have begun we had our 1st Parents-teacher Meeting(PTM).
Usually for Primary 1 there are no monthly PTM’s yet but we can approach teachers whenever there is a need to check on the status and they are really prompt in replying. I really appreciate the way they connect with parents which I feel is very important to build that confidence and understanding between parents and teachers as we all come from a different background and culture.
We got the opportunity to speak with his teachers and were so glad to hear that he is doing really great in his class and all his subjects. Deep inside my heart was the feeling “WOW !” That’s what every parent want to hear about their child.
When his teacher said,” He always want to finish his work 1st before anyone else can do and he is really a brilliant student ! Keep throwing brain teaser at him.” -Maths Teacher
His English teacher is very sweet and he seems to be her favourite types,” She was praising a lot that his communication, reading skills are superb and been a class monitor he does perform his role and responsibilities perfectly, sometimes a way ahead been too much into his role of a monitor by monitoring everything (wink).”
We got his progress report file to track for next 2 years which he took responsibility to keep properly. (Fingers crossed)
As a parent, we love to hear good things but at the same time, my husband has a rule to always know in all his PTM “3 good things and 3 things to improve upon” which I completely agree with him if we know we are doing good then what should be our next level. It is easier to mould and make them learn values and make role model at this tender age.
Overall I find him more groomed and confident boy over last 6 months of the journey in his primary school! Way to go and more to learn …
Really sweet of his teacher to give this lovely token of appreciation to him for performing good in his subject and scoring full marks.

Ohhh this has made me veyr emotional. I am a mummy to a 17 month old and I just don't know where the time goes, it's scary. What a fantastic report and it sounds like the school/teachers are very approachable and hands on. I bet you are so proud.

The cool thing about PTMs is that you're able to get a objective report on your child's development. I wish we had something like this in my old school! :O
I remember my first time attending PTM (PTA here in our local), I was excited to know how my son did in his class. I felt elated when I learned how my child improved. – KarenT
Kids are naturally motivated when they are given rewards. And I bet it feels really good to parents to know how well their kids are performing at school. 🙂

Yes, if my kids go to regular school (we homeschool) that is what I would like to know, too. I mean, yeah, it's great to hear our kids doing well and all that, but I would like to know what they're struggling with as well.

It's so great that there's monthly PTM so that the parents can know how their kids are performing in school. I believe that it takes both sides (parents and teachers) to work together on educating a child.
That's wonderful to hear. I do receive compliments of my children as well, from the teachers. And sometimes they are quite unbelievable. I wonder if they praise every kid at every Ptm. Where are the criticisms? It can't be that they are AStar kids all the time right? Hhahaha but yes, don't all parents enjoy hearing the good stuff.

Parent Teacher Meetings give parents so many insights about their own kids. Teachers know the strengths and weaknesses of the kids sometimes better than parents. Great to know that Aayan is doing very well in the school.

i think teacher and parents should meet more often, to know about the children more is very imporatant!

I've never actually been to my children's PTA meetings, went once and I sat there totally lost as everyone's talking in Mandarin and Ive no idea what they are talking about.
Congratulations on getting positive reports on your children's progress in school. I like your proactive attitude in getting involve in your children's schooling.

This is good as parents can communicate with teacher to ensure their children education go well. Last time my school have it once a year.
teachers parents meeting already? sometimes i think as parents i get more nerve wrecked than my kids during one of such sessions.
The kids progressing well at school – great job dear. Communication done within these meetings are essential – good to know that the teachers are doing good too 🙂
