Hola amigos from Cafe Iguana! Another wonderful place to enjoy with your family. We recently explored this beautiful cafe which is located in the heart of Singapore’s vibrant nightlife and by the scenic Clarke Quay Riverside.
We often skip the cafes near the riverside especially on the weekends as we find sometimes they are not best suited for families with young kids. This time we went ahead with Cafe Iguana and we didn’t regret it as it caters well to families, friends and colleagues.
We prefer to sit outside enjoying our family time along the Singapore River while you can choose between sitting indoors to soak in the complete Mexican interior decked out with colourful Mex top hats, rustic art pieces and an extensive collection of tequila bottles or enjoying a relaxing breezy alfresco dining experience by the Singapore River just like us.
It is just the beginning as cafes and nightlife have opened in Singapore and you will surely enjoy the contemporary good vibes as you chow down on hearty Mexican classics that pair perfectly with that glass of frozen margarita.
If you are looking for classic Mexican food then Cafe Iguana will not disappoint you as this place has a newly refreshed menu that presents elevated recipes by The Brewerkz Company’s Group Executive Chef Seow TziQin (more fondly known as Chef TQ) and uses fresh seasonal ingredients to bring out traditional flavours like mole and chile which are integral to authentic Mexican cuisine.
Cafe Iguana
Here are the wonderful dishes we had from the recently revamped menu and exclusively curated by Chef TQ. When we are talking about Mexican food how can we miss iconic chips – we tried Bueno Nachos which were loaded with Mexican rice, borracho beans, jalapenos and melted cheese .. totally yummy!
You can choose Quesadillas (Chipotle prawn or Grilled chicken) with all that gooey melty cheesy goodness.
Stuffed Burritos (Machaca beef or Memphis BBQ pulled pork) A perfect combo with pork ribs, chipotle honey bbq, tomato rice, candied jalapeños.
Angus Ribeye Fajitas
This one was fantastic with a blend of spiced Angus ribeye served with flour tortillas, roasted onions & peppers, blistered padrón peppers & confit tomatoes.
Veg Choices
If you are looking for vegetarian options, Cafe Iguana has added meat-free, vegetarian and vegan options on the menu such as the Impossible Empanadas and Meatless Waygu Tacos, made from plant-based ingredients like legumes, grilled halloumi, roasted corn salsa and baby king oyster mushrooms.
There’s also the Ensalada Verde, (a ‘No Tuna’ Taco Pasta Salad) made using Orzo pasta, preserved lemon and oregano vinaigrette, heirloom tomatoes and arugula topped with crispy tortillas.
After such a hearty meal you have to make some space for these super fantastic desserts. I can go back again and just eat dessert..
Shaker Churros
Shaker Churros are those bite-sized churros up with your choice of cinnamon or raspberry sugar, then dip them into either chocolate fudge sauce made from in-house brewed stout or Mexican caramel (cajeta).
Dessert Tacos, a heavenly combination of Nieve de Oasis (strawberry, orange and pineapple sorbet) and earl grey chantilly cream. The tacos were so crisp and amazing blend of flavours. A must try!
Cheese Mexican Burnt Cheesecake
Avocado lime pudding, 4 cheese blend, red velvet crumble, raspberry sorbet
