Health packed Oatmeal Bar

We all know that oatmeal is a great source of whole grain and it helps to lower the risk of many diseases. Personally, I love oats in any form though not everyone at home is a fan of it and I don’t use instant oats at all. So sometime an entire box of oats is mine, don’t think that I eat oats all the time ( I use it any other form – powder it to do coating instead of bread crumbs). Last time I have tried with oatmeal cookies and this time its oatmeal bars.

Oatmeal bars can make a good breakfast option as they are full of protein. You can just grab a bar and you are really full (with good calories). This one I want to prepare for my kids as a easy to go snacks which we can just put into the snacks box and we are done !

 Oatmeal Bar

Ingredients
Rolled oats – 1 cup
Baby oats- 1/2 cup
Dry fruits ( Cranberries, raisins etc)
Dry fruits powder- 1/2 cup
Dry grated coconut- 5 tbsp
Seeds-1/4 cup( flax seeds, pumpkin seeds, sesame)
Full cream milk- 1 1/4 cup
Egg- 1
Vanilla essence-1 tsp
Salt- 1 tsp
Honey
Method
  • Mix oats, dry fruits, coconut and seeds together. I took rolled oats and baby oats (as rolled oats were no more in stock) but you can take 1.5 cup of rolled oats.
  • As I was preparing this for my kids( a toddler also) so have grinded the dry fruits. Dry roast the seeds before adding them.
  • Now mix all the wet ingredients. Combine both dry as well as wet ingredients.
  • Preheat the oven on 200-250 c.
  • Line a baking tray with parchment paper and pour the mixture on the tray and bake it for 40-45 minutes.
  • While it was baking i have drizzled some honey on the top.
  • Let it cool first and then cut it into the bars.
  • You can store them in the refrigerator in a box or individually in a cling wrap.
These are not the crunchy bars but soft bars.
Note : I haven’t added any sugar here as with dry fruits you get the sweetness but you can add 1/2 cup-1/4 cup sugar if you like it sweeter.
Enjoy your healthy oatmeal bar as your breakfast, your snack time, picnic or anytime.

  1. i love oatmeal bars. would try this soon but would have to cut out the cream and substitute it for coconut oil for a healthier alternative

    1. Nicol.. It's not cream .. Full cream milk !! Coconut oil or vco is a good option .since already adding coconut so don't want to do with coconut oil.

  2. I'm not a fan of the instant version too and the ones that are sold are a bit too sweet for me. Imma give this a try one of these days. I'm all for homemade.

  3. great idea, making oatmeal bars instead buying the commercial readymade ones. Personally at home, we like making overnight oatmeal jars – those are yummy breakfast options too. 🙂

  4. Thanks for sharing! This will be a helpful post for not only mothers who prepare snacks for their children, but also for young busy women who are always on-the-go and needs a snack to energize themselves.
